Biographical history
The Yukon Order Of Pioneers (YOOP) was officially formed on December 1, 1894 at the town of Forty Mile on the Yukon River. The group was formed to keep the tradition of equality and fraternity alive. Membership was restricted to men who came into the Yukon before 1888. Their motto was, "Do as you would be done by." Leroy "Jack" McQuesten was elected as the first president.

The collection consists of photographs which depict members of the Yukon Order of Pioneers in a parade in Dawson City, group shots in front of a log building, and a ceremony in front of the Territorial Administration Building in Dawson City. Textual records include the YOOP constitution and ritual.
