Biographical history

William Bradshaw Gallup, 1914-1982, was born in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan and was trained as a petroleum geologist. He became well known to native people throughout western Canada and was an adopted son of Blackfoot Chief One Gun and a member of the Blackfoot Brave Dog Society. His wife, Lena, a Cree, was born at Fort McKay, Alberta. She attended a convent school at Grouard, trained as a nursing aide, and acted as a liaison between the native community and various social service and educational agencies in Calgary. She sat on the board of the Indian-Eskimo Association and the Calgary Indian Friendship Centre.
