Robert Tannas was born in Bellis, AB in 1945. He moved to Athabasca in 1973 to teach English and Social Studies at Edwin Parr Composite High School. In 1981 he became teacher-librarian at Edwin Parr. He has served on the Alice B. Donahue Library/Archives Board since January, 1978, and helped to write the books Athabasca Landing: an Illustrated History and Athabasca Album: a Pictorial History, 1875-1999. He married Carol Hrynewich and they have three sons: Alan, Lee and Joel.
