History

Robert William Tannas was born in Bellis, AB in 1945. He moved to Athabasca in 1973 to teach English and Social Studies at Edwin Parr Composite High School. In 1981 he became teacher-librarian at Edwin Parr. He served on the Alice B. Donahue Library and Archives Board from 1978 to 2013 and helped to write the books Athabasca Landing: An Illustrated History and Athabasca Album: A Pictorial History, 1875-1999. He was a member of the Athabasca and District Senior Citizen’s Society from 2009 – 2017. He is married to Carole (Hrynewich) and they have three sons: Alan, Lee and Joel.
