Biographical history

Sylvester W. Gilfoy, ?-1964, came to Calgary, Alberta in the 1910s and worked as a stock broker and real estate dealer in his own firm and as a commercial traveller. He served in both First World War and the Second World War and was promoted to the rank of captain. After the Second World War he was an accountant for various Calgary firms. He married Helen Katherine Neil, 1893-1987, and they had four children, James, Patricia, Margaret (Kearns) and Helen (Werbisky).

The fonds consists of films of Turner Valley oil field (ca. 1920s) and Calgary air show (1928), and Gilfoy family photographs.
