Athabasca Jubilee Celebration Committee fonds

The fonds consists of minutes and correspondence of the Jubilee Celebration Committee from 1960 to 1961; newspaper articles; a special 1 issue newspaper entitled "The Landing Trail Post"; a programme and audiotape reels (duplicated on two DVDs) of the play "The Athabasca Story" written by John Havard and produced Sept.4, 1961. The 16 mm film "Land of Athabasca" was part of the play. Two audiotape reels are excerpts from the sound track of the play and were broadcast on CKUA radio Aug.27, 1961. The film is credited to Havard-Bolch Productions and includes moving pictures of the Athabasca River, bridge and town from the air; street scenes, creamery, school bus; a pottery display with the sign "Brick and Tile by Northwest Ceramics Ltd. Edmonton, AB" made from Athabasca clay; Imperial Lumber building, planing mill and sawdust burner as well as loading lumber into a boxcar; the cenotaph, train station and water skiing at Baptiste Lake. A 1996 letter from Mrs. John Havard re: copying film.

The fonds consists of materials created by the Athabasca Historical Society between 1984 and 1997. The fonds includes Alberta Registries Society Annual Return 1983 - 1996, administrative materials, financial documents, correspondence, research for the book Athabasca Landing: An Illustrated History, 1986, and the 1984 Athabasca Historical Society pamphlet "The Athabasca River Story."

The fonds consists of 30 photographs of events held during the 75th anniversary celebration of the Town of Athabasca in 1986. These events are: Homecoming Wine & Cheese; Homecoming Picnic; and September Banquet. The fonds also includes a donation of geological equipment from Roy Fodchuk, (19.16) and these items include "Cote's Map of Athabaska Landing c. 1907; "How and Where to Pan Gold," 1961; "Simple Methods of Gold Mining," 1969; two geological hammers, 14 mineral samples, a core sample, a prospector's claim kit, three diamond drill bits, a laboratory test sieve, DMR Report No. 115, Part II, The Geology of the Nemeiben Lake Area, four bank transfer for Studor Gold Mines ,Ltd., and the corporate seal of the North Shore Uranium Ltd.

Robert William Tannas Photograph Series

The series consists of photographs taken at town events, theatre productions, library/archives events, Remembrance Day services, Agricultural Society parades, Meanook Biological Station (Dominion Observatory), Edwin Parr Composite Community School graduations (1988, 1989), Alberta Pacific Environmental Impact Assessment Review Board meetings (1989), and four scrapbooks of clippings about Athabasca. Bob took photographs of the town's 75th anniversary proceedings. In 2009 Bob took 76 photographs of buildings in the Town of Athabasca and of the demolition of the Athabasca Community Centre. 2010 photos include the inside of the former and the new Buy-Low Foods store, and the demolition of the former store. Further donations include photos of potter Alfred Messerli, 1985 remodeling of Edwin Parr Composite High School, Calling River telegraph station, Pelican Settlement in 1979, 1973 Boyle High School Boys Curling team win provincials, Remembrance Day 2003, and author Holly (Holt) Kennedy.
