This file contains a typed letter from Peter Murphy to Tom Peterson dated 19 February 2010 regarding documents related attempts at recognizing Portage La Biche as a national historic site sent by Tom Maccagno, a typed letter from Tom Maccagno to Peter Murphy dated 29 January 2010 regarding an enclosed photocopy of HIstoric Sites and Monuments Board documents, a photocopied typed letter from Julie Dompierre to Tom Maccagno dated 21 January 2010 regarding that Portage La Biche was not chosen as a national historic site but the Columbia Express will be evaluated as a potential national historic event, a photocopied Historic Sites and Monuments Board of Canada (HSMBC) "Excerpt from the Minutes of December 2008L Commemoration of the Western Canadian Fur Trade at Portage La Biche, Alberta" regarding the possibilities for a national historic site or event designation for the Portage and the board's decision that they could not evaluate the Portage's potential historical significance due to its loss of integrity but that they will consider the Columbia Express as a potential historic event, and a photocopied report "Commemoration of the Western Canadian Fur Trade at Portage la Biche, Alberta" by Philip Goldring for the HSMBC regarding the history of the portage/options for its consideration as a national historic event or site and an appendix of Alberta heritage surveys and maps of the Portage (pgs 1-18),
