Biographical history

The Parkhurst School District No. 2645 was formed January 25, 1912. It is northeast of the town of Athabasca, Alberta. It was bordered by the Athabasca River to the west and north and extended to the east to one-half mile west of Range Road 215 and south to Range Road 664. A few homesteaders arrived before the land survey but most came later. Fourteen filed between 1908 and 1910 and one hundred and twelve filed between 1911 and 1914.

The fonds consists of newspaper clippings from local papers and photographs of St. Mary's Anglican Church, railway tie camps, the Parkhurst District, Archdeacon and Mrs. Little, Parkhurst School students in 1938, Highway 55 (E-W) through Athabasca, Eugene Sale, threshing, Mrs. Joseph Laflamme and family; Eleanor,Jim, Ruth, John, Bill and Lily Elliott; and the Athabasca Flying Club in 1977.
