Administrative history

The Milo Independent Order of Odd Fellows (IOOF) Lodge #154 was instituted on December 14, 1928, with six charter members – Earl Jones, John McRoberts, James Hampton, Alex McIntyre, L.H. Phillips and W.F. Durston. They were immediately joined by 25 others, and as membership continued to increase they quickly outgrew their original meeting space. The United Farmers of Alberta had a hall out in the country, and as the village of Milo was also growing at a rapid pace, in 1929 it was decided to obtain the UFA building and move it into town. In order to do this the building was dismantled and then rebuilt it on its new site: paid carpenters received 40 cents an hour for their labour.
Through the 1940s membership began to dwindle, and control of the hall was turned over to the village of Milo in 1962. Milo IOOF Lodge continued until 1973, at which time they relinquished their charter.
