Name of creator

Biographical history

Metropolitan United Church was established in 1925 upon the creation of The United Church of Canada from a union of the Methodist, Presbyterian and Congregational denominations. The origin of the congregation is from the South Edmonton Methodist Church established in 1892 and later renamed as Metropolitan Methodist Church in 1908. Metropolitan United Church experienced a fire on New Year's Day 1942. After the fire, the congregation rebuilt the church at 83 Avenue and 109 Street and dedicated it in the spring of 1943. In 1972, the congregation amalgamated with Knox United Church to form Knox-Metropolitan United Church.
