Metropolitan Methodist Church was established in 1892 as South Edmonton Methodist Church. A new church building was constructed in 1908 and it appears that the church was renamed Metropolitan Methodist Church at the time of dedication. Metropolitan Methodist Church existed until 1925 when it joined The United Church of Canada which was a union of the Methodist, Presbyterian and Congregational denominations. The congregation was reconstituted as Metropolitan United Church.
