The Marquis Municipal golf course was situated northwest of the Lake McGregor dam.
The first recorded meeting of the Marquis Municipal Golf Club was in May 1925, with the following motions passed: President --Mr Haggins; Vice President-- Mr Spafford; Secretary-Treasurer -- L. Phillips; Finance Committee -- Mr Harvey, Mr Saint Peter, with Mr Broderick and Mr Norton; Grounds Committee -- James Assgard and Sturrock[?], with Mr Broderick and Mr Norton; Entertainment Committee -- Mrs Jones, Mrs Saint Peter, Mrs Johnston and Mrs Assgard. Fees were set at “five dollars for gents” and three dollars for women, with a three dollar fee also to be paid by any members who were outside of the municipality.
