Biographical history

"Lowrie" Charles Streatch (1913-1997) was born at Lulu Island B.C. to Charles and Alberta Streatch. In 1914, the Charles Streatch family moved from B.C. to the Waskasoo area in Red Deer, Alberta. Lowrie married Anne Watson of Ponoka, and the couple had two sons, Lorne (1942-1961) and Richard. Lowrie worked for Alberta Meat Market for 10 years before moving to Union Milk where he worked for 25 years doing numerous jobs including delivering milk to residents of Red Deer. In 1968, a heart attack forced him into retirement. Throughout his life, Lowrie was interested in acquiring a wide variety of artifacts and antiques, and as time passed his collection became substantial. He later used his vast supply of oddities to decorate his front lawn on special occasions. Lowrie Streatch passed away on 21 July 1997 and is buried in the Red Deer Cemetery. He is survived by his wife and son.
