Nota general

The records in this fonds were on long-term deposit with the Red Deer and District Archives in accordance with a records management agreement between the Normandeau Cultural and Natural History Society and the Archives, as representative of the City of Red Deer. In January 1999, while the City Archivist was absent, the Executive Director of the Normandeau Cultural and Natural History Society asked for the return of 15 cubic foot boxes containing 4 m of textual records back into that Society's custody; a Society employee, who did not have appropriate records management or archival training, was ordered to weed personnel files and other "irrelevancies." As a consequence, the vast majority of the fonds as described in 1995 was destroyed. Only 50 cm of records are still extant. Any remaining records from that portion of the fonds which was taken back by the Normandeau Cultural and Natural History Society may reside among the records kept at the Kerry Wood Nature Centre itself.
