Jeannette Smallwood was one of six children born in Athabasca to Harry Smallwood and his wife, Adeline Shank. In 1951 she married Colin Akerman from the St. Albert area. They had no children.

The fonds consists of an oil painting of a house that was located at 4815-51st Street in Athabasca. Jeannette's mother, Adeline, lived here from 1967 to 1974. The house was demolished in 2022.
