Studio portrait of local pioneer Alfred Nelson. Mr. Nelson was born in Smaaland, Sweden in February 1873. He arrived in Wetaskiwin on April 12, 1894 after a brief stay in Worchester, Massachusetts, but in 1906 he went to Sweden where he met and married Justin Anderson. The couple returned to Wetaskiwin that same year and lived there until moving back to Sweden from 1912 to 1922. Mr. Nelson passed away on September 28, 1933.
