The material is largely concerned with time spent in Rycroft but this fonds also contains records created in Nebraska, Spirit River, and Calgary. The records consist of approximately 1500 photographs and negatives depicting farm life, school classes, locations, and people; newspaper clippings, pamphlets; posters; 2 family histories; 2 undated and unlabeled photograph albums; account books; and certificates.
The fonds has been arranged into the following series: Vader Family (1800-1980), Grimm family (1800-1980), and Ora and Edith [Vader] Grimm (1908-2008).
This series contains records related to the Vader and Scott families. The records consist of approximately 500 photographs and negatives and other textual documents depicting farm and family life as well as the military in WWII. This series has been arranged into four sub-series: Scott Family Photographs ([ca. 1850s]), Personal Papers (1800-1980), Family Photographs(1800-1980), and Jim Vader War Records(1940-1944).
This sub-series contains records related to the Scott family. The Scott’s are the family line of Ethel May who married Daniel Vader.The images depict various family members and friends. Some of the photographs are stamped from Bancroft, ON and Calgary, AB, both cities the Scott family resided in. It also contains two undated photo albums that contain portraits.
This grey fabric covered scrapbook measures 20.5 cm by 26 cm and has a metal closure which is broken. It contains 49 photographs and some ephemera. .They depict individuals and family groups from the Scott family in Brantford and Calgary. There are some loose photographs, including a group shot of an army platoon standing at attention in Calgary Park. Some of the photographs are tintype. A large number appear to be cabinet cards but they are tightly held in the scrapbook so removal for further viewing may cause damage. As well, there are some ephemeral items such as a newspaper clipping, and a memorial card.
This red album measures 12.5 cm x 14 cm, and red with metal clasp and image of a little girl holding a kitten. It contains 36 photographs. Most of the photographs are slightly larger than a postage stamp, with a few resembling photo booth photographs. Several pages have multiple photographs tucked into the frame and several of the photographs are loose. All the images consist of headshots of various people. None of the people are identified. There is one small, biblical quote tucked into one of the pages.

This file consists of a compilation of family history, geneologies, and scanned newspaper clippings, photographs, and documents that chart the story of the Black and Vader families dating back to 1788. The history was originally housed in a three-ring binder but this has been removed for preservation reasons. It has been split into two physical files due to its length
This file consists of various estate documents for W. H. Vader, who drowned in the Saskatchewan River in 1902, and for Robert Fairbairn, who seems to have been a second or third cousin.
This file inlcude newspaper clippings, memorial cards, and a funeral pamplet for various members of the family including Daniel Vader, Esther Vader, and F/O James F. Dodge.
