This fonds contains records collected or created by Jillian Wright for her research about surveyors and early pioneers in the Peace Region.

These records consist of two copies of the booklets written by Jillian and copies of the newspaper articles the booklet was based upon.

Dr. Lloyd Austin ran a religious commune on his homestead on the NE6-71-5-W6, southeast of the City of Grande Prairie. This land was homesteaded by Dr. Lloyd Austin ca. 1930 and turned over to Billy Blair after the Austins left the area.

William “Billy” Blair was born in 1886. He worked as a camp cook for Henry Selby, who surveyed land east of the fifth meridian, in 1905.

William Blair died in 1995 and is buried in the Grande Prairie Cemetery.

The material in this collection contains records related to Dr. Lloyd Austin’s religious commune.

The record consists of 15 photographs of the dilapidated buildings of a religious commune located on the NE 6-71-5-W6, on the banks of Bear Creek south-east of the City and one 40-minute oral history.

Spirit River Immigration Hall fonds

The fonds consists of two books of records listing the settlers who stayed at the Spirit River Immigration Hall. The book recorded: Name, Nationality, Age, Port of Entry, Proposed Destination, Occupation, Date of Arrival at Hall, Date of Leaving Hall and Remarks.

Royal Banner School Children

Agnes Kinderwater back row, extreme right, at age 19 with her grades 1-8 of Royal Banner country school, 18 miles west of La Glace. Agnes is the sister of Paul, Clement, Anna, Theresa and Pauline.

Father Clem's First Mass

The second Kinderwater home, where in 1937, friends and neighbors dropped in to celebrate Fr. Clement's first mass. Guests included his first grade teacher, Harry Keith, a large gathering of "Old Missionary Oblates" and many of the recently arrived Redemtorist Fathers.
