The fonds consists of a nearly complete documentary record of the history of the Edmonton VANA branch and includes meeting agendas and minutes, correspondence, membership rosters, committee records, conference and seminar files, posters, pamphlets, press releases, speaking notes, and resolutions.

There are also records related to specific actions, protests, and rallies related to the Persian Gulf War, Hiroshima Memorial Day, Auschwitz Memorial Day, and Hands Across the Border.

There is also a complete run of The VANA Courier, as well as newsletters from other VANA branches and the central office. In addition to VANA publications, there are also magazines, newsletters, and pamphlets from like-minded organizations, among them the Fraser Valley Peace Letter; Saskatchewan Peace News; Peace, Environment, and Third World Development Network News; Socialist Voice; and Ploughshares Monitor.

The photos and slides depict Edmonton VANA events, rallies, and conferences as well as trips to national and international events in Ottawa and the Soviet Union, among others.

The audiocassettes contain recorded remarks and presentations from a 1988 national VANA conference entitled Peacemaking and Peacekeeping: Canada and the United Nations held at Dalhousie University, Halifax.

The collection consists of records from a wide variety of sources that are all related to progressive movements and the Canadian left. There are particularly large amounts of records from the Alberta New Democrats and the Strathcona NDP constituency association as well as material from the Alberta Federation of Labour, the Woodsworth-Irvine Socialist Fellowship, and the Edmonton Women's Coalition.

The NDP material consists of committee files from the Edmonton NDP Anti-War Committee, the Women's Committee, and the Environment Committee; scrapbooks and documents created by Franklin Foster related to his 1975 NDP campaign for the Bonnyville MLA seat; Alberta New Democrat publications, magazines, and reports; and minutes and administrative files from the Strathcona NDP constituency.

In addition to the Franklin Foster NDP material, there is also a copy of an abridged version of Foster's PhD dissertation on John E. Brownlee.

The non-NDP material consists of a conference packet from the 1965 Summer Seminar of the Woodsworth-Irvine Socialist Fellowship; several papers and research documents published by leftist and progressive organizations such as the Revolutionary Marxist Group (Saskatchewan), the Woodsworth-Irvine Socialist Fellowship, and the Edmonton Women's Coalition; newsletters and pamphlets from the Edmonton Women's Coalition; several issues of The Other Alberta Report, a progressive compendium of Alberta-focused news analysis; and Alberta Federation of Labour publications.

The fonds consists of records of Léo Piquette's role as a Member of Legislative Assembly of Alberta, personal, political and professional correspondence, genealogical information compiled by Léo Piquette's mother, photographs, scrapbooks with newspaper articles related to his political activity, broadcasted documentaries or interviews covering Léo Piquette's political career or related to his interest in the Lac La Biche Mission. It also includes records attesting his involvement in different organizations and projects, like Association Canadienne Française de l'Alberta, regionale de Plamondon, Alberta Catholic School Trustees' Association, Lakeland County Rate Payers Association, Fédération des conseils scolaires francophones de l'Alberta, Conseil scolaire Centre-Est, Réseau de développement économique et d'employabilité (RDEE) Canada, Society of Lac La Biche Mission, Premiere Peat Moss, Pulpmill: Poachers Landing, and the dissolution of the village of Plamondon and others.

The fonds consists of the personal and professional correspondence of Dr. Manoly R. Lupul (1950-2008) including materials relating to his teaching career at the University of Alberta, numerous published materials related to his activities, and photographs and slides (1932-2007). There are also two smaller series within the fonds. The first series consists of materials created and collected by Lupul during his time on the Canadian Consultative Council on Multiculturalism, including various newsletters and other publications produced by the council relating to the official policy of Multiculturalism and its inclusion in the Canadian Constitution (1972-1997). The seconds series consists of materials created and collected by Lupul during his time as the director, and afterwards, of the Canadian Institute for Ukrainian Studies, mainly consisting of the Canadian Institute for Ukrainian Studies newsletter (1976-2008).
