The collection consists of films used in an itinerant picture show that toured through rural Saskatchewan, particularly through Ukrainian communities around Regina, during the 1930s-50s. The films include episodes of popular series such as Tarzan of the Apes, Dick Tracy, Krazy Kat, and Hopalong Cassidy; full-length genre films including Westerns and melodramas; comedy shorts; compilations of trailers for Hollywood features; episodes of Canadian Movietone News for 1950-51; a documentary about Inuit life in the 1940s; and two feature-length Ukrainian films that were made in North America. Both of these films were produced by Ukrainian-Canadian Vasile Avramenko. The first is entitled Cossacks in Exile (Zaporozhets za dunaem) (Edgar L. Ulmer, 1938), while the second is entitled Marusia (Leo Bulgakov, 1938). These films are in the Ukrainian language with English subtitles, were specifically made for the expatriate Ukrainian community in North America, and are rare examples of Ukrainian commercial filmmaking in North America.

Many of the films are fragments of larger works, but it is unclear if the complete films were ever shown as part of the travelling picture show.

The collection also contains a poster for Cossacks in Exile and an original cardboard box used to house one of the film reels.

The fonds consists of films that were created by Wolfgang Witschl and document travel, hobbies, family activities, and community events. Activities such as hunting, fishing, camping, road trips, and family celebrations are all captured. Witschl also documented various wildlife in natural settings across Alberta, including bighorn sheep, bears, salmon, elk, moose, and caribou.

Public events documented by Witschl include Edmonton's Heritage Days and Klondike Days, the closing of the 1978 Commonwealth Games in Edmonton, marches and parades through Edmonton's downtown, a pageant and powwow to mark the 100th anniversary of the signing of Treaty 6 at Dried Meat Hill (Ka-Ke-Wuk), the christening of Mount Michener (which features Peter Lougheed and Rt. Hon. Daniel Roland Michener), and 1967 centennial celebrations in Edmonton (featuring Lester Pearson and Edmonton mayor Vincent Dantzer).

The photo depicts Father Levern in a horse-drawn buggy. It is identified as having been created in either 1910 or 1911.

The collection consists of photographs of various sites and people around Fort Chipewyan, Alberta during winter. All of the locations and some of the subjects are identified.

The fonds consists of material related to the Gift Lake Métis Days Homecoming celebration held at the Gift Lake Métis Settlement from July 30th to August 1st, 1994. The photographs and negatives depict sites around Gift Lake and speakers, events, and performances related to the Homecoming celebration. The textual material consists of the Homecoming registration packet, including a program, schedule of events, a history of the Gift Lake Settlement, and a map of the Settlement.

The fonds consists of unfinished pastel portraits by Nicholas de Grandmaison, negatives and photographs by Nicholas de Grandmaison consisting mainly of portrait sitters, family home movies by Nicholas de Grandmaison, art brochures, Christmas cards made by de Grandmaison family members, and audio cassettes of family reminiscences, family meetings and CBC radio programs about Nicholas de Grandmaison.

Fonds consists of contracts, budgets, correspondence, grant proposals, notes, promotional material, photographs, photocopies of research material, newspaper clippings, videotapes, audio recordings, digital photographs, and digital images of paintings for art curator Gordon Snyder's exhibit and book on artist Nicholas de Grandmaison which was mounted and published in 2007. Also includes proofs for the book and a copy of his published book, Drawn from the Past: Nicholas de Grandmaison and two framed lithographed art reproductions of Nicholas de Grandmaison pastels published by Last Arrow Ltd.: "Blackfoot Brave" and "Chief Coldweather". Videotapes include footage regarding the 1982 Glenbow exhibit "History in Their Blood" and a copy of de Grandmaison family home movies that are in the holdings of the National Gallery of Canada. Audio recordings include copies of audograph discs, for which the originals are held at the University of Lethbridge Art Gallery. These consist of interviews that Nicholas de Grandmaison conducted with portrait sitters, mainly First Nations people from the 1950s and 1970s. Audio recordings also include a copy of the CBC radio program "Faces Lit in the Dark" and original oral history recordings of Nicholas de Grandmaison and family members.

The fonds also consists of material is directly related to Snyder's work as a curator, artist, and gallery owner. There are negatives, slides, and .jpeg/.tiff photos that depict images of Snyder's work or the work of artists that were curated by Snyder in a gallery, festival, or touring exhibit. These images are identified with the name of the artist also noted and provide evidence of the role and work of a curator.

There is also textual material (including files on the computer disks and on some of the CD-ROMs) that provides evidence of the working life of a curator and includes correspondence with artists and art dealers, drafts of program notes, printed programs that Snyder contributed to, and financial information that shows the business side of art management.

There are audiocassettes that feature recorded artist talks given by Les Graff and Andy Fabo about their work. Snyder had dealings with both artists and these talks provide informational value related to their work and further evidential value concerning the arts milieu.

Among these records, specific projects are particularly represented. These include major touring exhibits such as Through Alberta Eyes: The Photographs of Orest Semchishen and Snyder's involvement with The Works International Visual Arts Society and its annual arts festival.

The fonds consists of photographic negatives depicting a wide variety of activities related to farming and labour, and family and daily life and leisure in the early homesteading period of Albertan history. Images include family portraits, the Spruce Grove homestead, farm work and equipment, horse-drawn carriages and carts, First Nations, and locations in Scotland.

The fonds consists of photos depicting events associated with the Calgary Stampede, Kananaskis, Albertan pioneers, pioneer cemeteries, historic sites in Calgary and in other places in Alberta, and members of First Nations. The records also contain clippings, notes, and booklets giving contextual information to the photographs.

The fonds consists of slides and textual material created by Theresa Ferguson, archaeology and anthropology professor, in the course of her field research.
