The fonds consists of films that were created by Wolfgang Witschl and document travel, hobbies, family activities, and community events. Activities such as hunting, fishing, camping, road trips, and family celebrations are all captured. Witschl also documented various wildlife in natural settings across Alberta, including bighorn sheep, bears, salmon, elk, moose, and caribou. ; Public events documented by Witschl include Edmonton's Heritage Days and Klondike Days, the closing of the 1978 Commonwealth Games in Edmonton, marches and parades through Edmonton's downtown, a pageant and powwow to mark the 100th anniversary of the signing of Treaty 6 at Dried Meat Hill (Ka-Ke-Wuk), the christening of Mount Michener (which features Peter Lougheed and Rt. Hon. Daniel Roland Michener), and 1967 centennial celebrations in Edmonton (featuring Lester Pearson and Edmonton mayor Vincent Dantzer).
Mrs Winnie Shandro describes her career in public health nursing, not in chronological order, but in the order that her lively memory decided. She describes the professional relationships between doctors and nurses and the bad behaviour of some doctors towards nurses. One of their first tasks at the East Central Health Unit was to restore discipline to both professions and to improve relations between the public health service and the local hospital. Her main focus is on the health services she offered to the Indian Reserves and the Métis settlements and to Native patients in the Yukon and in northern Alberta. She had good relations with, and respect for, the military medical crews in the Yukon and CFB Cold Lake, Alberta. Mrs Shandro's career covered over 50 years of nursing service.
The collection consists of three audio reels containing 16 hours of recorded stories and legends recounted by eight Cree Elders of the Wabasca/Desmarais area. Ray Yellowstone captured these stories in 1968.
Fonds consists of a three volume journal entitled 1923 Journal of Some Travels in the North, and captioned survey photographs depicting various people and views in northern Alberta, including rock formations, First Nations camps, Hudson's Bay forts, and various modes of water transportation.
The fonds consists of photographs taken by Hugo Viewegar and his son, Lute Vieweger. Of particular note are nine autochromes, 1913 - 1914, taken by Hugo Viewegar. The autochrome is a very rare early colour photographic process. The originals are 5"X7" and 3 1/2"X5" transparencies on glass plates. The subject matter is native people, Royal North West Mounted Police (RNWMP), family portraits, a house and a still life, all taken in Edmonton. Also by Hugo Viewegar are nine black and white photographs and four black and white negatives, 1913 - 1914, of homesteading, RNWMP, the City of Edmonton paddle steamer, and Edmonton scenes. Two of the prints are vintage albumen prints (RNWMP). The remainder of the above are modern prints. Also included are five black and white photographs and four black and white negatives, [193-], by Lute Vieweger, of riverboats, airplanes and Fort Chipewyan. All five prints are modern prints. Also included is an audio reel recording of an interview with Lute Vieweger about his life, recorded in 1974.
