File contains slides on various expedition-related subjects, including training climbs on Mt. Muztagata, Denali, Aconcagua, and in the Bugaboos, the April 1982 move-in of equipment into Nepal, the team’s pre-departure press conference in Toronto, the team’s walk in to Base Camp in July, official Everest 1982 logos, Teleglobe satellite advertisements, and photos of sketches of the expedition climb by artist Brian Anderson. Photographers listed include Bob Warren, Andy Bako, and Jean Becq.
File contains extensive expedition footage from team members that was transferred to Type C videotapes by Programmed Communications Limited (PCL). Includes a wide variety of subjects such as the team’s hike to Everest Base Camp, the climbers on various parts of the mountain, interviews with team members, aerial footage of the mountain, and interviews with affiliates in Kathmandu. Each video reel was designated a letter of the alphabet, A-U. PCL migrated a complete set of the Type C tapes to VHS video cassettes and the Banff Centre's Mountain Culture department further migrated the original Video C reels to the DVD format. Additional copies of selected footage have also been transferred to DVcam (only Tapes C, F, G, N, K, O), Betacam (only Tapes G, H), and Betacam SP (only Tape H) formats.
File contains copies of a video version of the CanEverEx post-expedition slideshow, “The Dream, The Reality” that premiered at the Calgary airport on October 18, 1982 upon the Canadian team’s return from Nepal, and was used for subsequent iterations of the presentation in Toronto and other locations. Video presentation features a series of expedition image stills, narrated by Earl Pennington. A 30-minute version of the show is looped twice on all copies of the production.
File contains iterations of an in-flight documentary produced by CanEverEx for Air Canada. Features a history of past Everest climbs, pre-climb interviews with expedition team members, and in-depth visual preview of the logistics for the 1982 Canadian Everest Expedition. File includes original film answer and test prints, videocassette copies with a 24-minute version and a 10-minute version of the film, and digitized versions of the film.
File contains Canadian and American pre and post expedition news coverage, including an ABC Nightline special on the Canadian Everest Expedition, Mid Canada Communications Sudbury interview with Nepal-based travel and logistics coordinator Bobby Chettri, promotional footage for the 1986 Canadian Everest Light Expedition and stock footage from the 1982 Everest expedition.
File contains 2 copies of a 1-minute video spot for the announcement of the team’s Air Canada sponsorship. A paper identification guide is included with each 1-minute spot. Also includes a video compilation of the pre-expedition Air Canada farewell event in Toronto in July 1982 and brief video spot containing the Everest logo.
Scope and Content: File includes interviews with former team leader George Kinnear and team members John Amatt (reporting from the field, regarding summit attempts, questions not audible), Tim Augur, Rusty Baillie, George Kinnear, Bill March, Pemba Tshering, Dwayne Congdon, Pat Morrow, Jim Elzinga, and Programmed Communications Limited representatives Lynn Muir and Brian Smith. Audio reels contain interview recordings with George Kinnear and John Amatt that have been edited down into segments for Air Canada 1982 Everest broadcast radio reports.

Audio reel contains edited voice elements from John Amatt, Bill March, and Bobby Chettri that were incorporated into the presentation. File also contains audio footage from a 1982 Everest supplier showcase in Toronto, and an abridged history of Everest climbs incorporating Sir Edmund Hillary's best wishes to the Canadian team.

In addition, the file also contains a cassette recording of a separate “Sherpa Tune” adapted and arranged by Bobby Chettri. It is unclear whether this music was also used to accompany the slide show.
