The fonds consists of copious material related to grants, funding, and financial management; working documents, minutes, and correspondence related to affiliated organizations such as the Edmonton Professional Arts Council, the Independent Film and Video Arts Alliance (later the Independent Media Arts Alliance), and the Alberta Media Arts Alliance Society; monthly and annual general meeting minutes; committee records including minutes and reports from the Production Committee (including records related to the procurement, maintenance, and renting of equipment), the Programming Committee (including records related to exhibitions and distribution), the Executive Committee/Board of Directors (including records related to governance), and the Membership Committee; administrative records including reports, correspondence, and job descriptions related to paid staff such as the executive director and production coordinator; and member and volunteer files. There are also posters, programs, and other promotional material created for FAVA events and a complete series of newsletters and other internal communications. The photographs depict FAVA events.

These records consist of a copy of Fires of Spring on 16mm film and a DVD copy of the same title. Fires of Spring is a 1978 documentary produced by the University of Alberta about the use of controlled fires for agricultural management. The film specifically focuses on the use of controlled fires by First Nations people in northern Alberta and features interviews with members of the Cree, Beaver, Dene, and Chipewyan nations regarding the traditional use of fire in land management. The film also features several University of Alberta faculty members discussing the importance of the practice.

The fonds consists of personal records created by the past presidents of DKG, Alberta in pursuance of their role as head of the Executive of the provincial organization of the Society. Also included in the fonds are the administrative records of DKG, Alberta, records which were created in the process of coordinating the many activities and events that are organized and attended by the executive branch of the organization.

The records include a news article from the Calgary Herald published in 2009 detailing Christina’s childhood and experience as a preoperative trans woman living and working in Alberta and overseas; report cards and photographs from Christina’s schooling in Claresholm, Alberta between 1953 and 1965; photographs documenting Christina’s work as a drilling engineer in Africa and Alberta between 1977 and 2000; and photographs of Christina’s cats and visiting wildlife to her acreage west of Calgary taken in the years after her gender reassignment surgery in 2004.

Ludwig, primarily within his capacity as president of Frisia Properties Ltd. and Frisia Realty Ltd., as well a small number of personal and family records, covering the dates of 1951-2010. The fonds consists of records from Gil Cardinal’s independent and freelance projects; the film companies co-founded by Cardinal (Great Plains Productions, Kanata Productions, Strange Empire Productions); and his work for NFB, BBC, or other broadcasters.

Most prominent among these are My Partners, My People, Our Home and Native Land, The Great Possibility, and David with F.A.S. There are also masters, but not shooting tapes, for several other projects including Big Bear, Chiefs (for both episodes directed by Cardinal), Totem, and others. Some of these masters are on DVD as well as videocassette.

The photographs, negatives, and slides consist of images shot by Cardinal during the course of filming, images of special events, and family photos.

These serve as evidence of the regular activities and history of The Summer Village of Island Lake since its incorporation in 1958.
