NAR Tressle over Bear Creek GP

Salt Water Well near Peace River

Caption on back of photo reads “Gas + salt water well at Peace River town about 1929”. This is possibly the infamous well known as “Old Salty” or the “Well from Hell” that was drilled in 1916 outside of Peace River. The well spewed out enough salt water to fill an Olympic sized pool every day for 87 years. After a total of $10 million was spent, the well was finally sealed in 2003.
