Last Ferry Run

The last ferry run across the Smoky River on the day of the bridge's opening. A large number of spectators are gathered on both sides of the river. The completed Smoky River Bridge is visible to the right.

Smoky River Bridge Opening

The Smoky River Bridge opening parade crosses over and under the bridge. The float in the foreground is a covered wagon with the words "Grande Prairie or Bust" written on the canvas cover. The photograph shows crowds of people lining the parade route.

Hudson's Bay Company fonds

The fonds consists of two fur-trade ledgers which detail transactions between the Hudson’s Bay Company at Dunvegan and individuals trading with this post. The first ledger (8 ½ x 13” and 160 pages) dates between 1834 and 1840, and the second ledger (9 ½ x 14” and 160 pages) is from 1861-1863 and contains many First Nations hunters, some identified by aboriginal names and some by the more common French names.
