The fonds consists of family history written by Joe Shoctor, an oral history interview with Joe Shoctor, a videotaped tribute to Joe prepared for the Citadel Theatre, text of speeches given by and about Joe. It also contains programs from dinners in Joe's honour, newspaper articles about Joe, two eulogies, photos of the family and other items pertaining to the family and the Edmonton Jewish community, the Beth Israel Synagogue, and the Citadel Theatre. Also includes four volumes of the Evergreen and Gold, 1942, 43, 44 & 46. The Fonds includes of the following series: 1. Shoctor Family History(1920-2005). The series consists of items relating to the history of the Shoctor and Wine families, including photographs, obituaries, diplomas and family trees. The series consists of the following sub-series: Biography, Family History; Joe & Kayla Wine Shoctor; Marshall Shoctor; Marshall and Deborah Glaser Shoctor; Morris & Nechama (Naomi) Tulman Shoctor; Photographs; Wills & Estates. 2. Community (1941-2000). This series consists of the following sub-series: Clippings; Duncan & Craig; Edmonton Downtown Development Corporation; Edmonton Eskimos; Hebrew University Dinner for Tevie & Arliss Miller (1992); Interview Transcripts; Mayor's Task Force on the Heart of the City (1984); Steve Paproski Tribute Dinner; Eric & Elexis Schloss Negev Dinner (1994); Speeches, Jewish; Speeches, Non-Jewish; Victoria High School. 3. Jewish Organizations (ca. 1959-2000). This series consists of the following sub-series: Correspondence (1974, 1978, 1980s); JAHSENA; Jewish Speeches; Jewish Community Relations Committee; Talmud Torah; Zionist Organization of Canada. 4. Theatre (1942-2000). The series consists of documents, correspondance, programs and newspaper articles relating to Joe Shoctor's founding of the Citadel Theatre in Edmonton, and his involvement in other theatrical projects.This series consists of the following sub-series: Circle 8; Citadel Theatre; Civic Opera; Duddy; General Publicity; Hamp (1967); Henry Sweet Henry (1967); The Music Man (1963); Peter Pat (1965); Plays, Programs. 5. Beth Israel Synagogue (1995-2000). The series consists of correspondence and other materials relating to the building of the new synagogue building on Wolf Willow Road, opened in 2000, and the the history of the congregation. The series consists of the following sub-series: Builder-Rescom; Building Committee; Construction photos; Correspondence; New Building, Speeches, Wolf Willow Building. 6. Awards (1974-2000). This series consists of materials relating to awards and honours given to Joe Shocotr. The series includes the following sub-series: Alberta Order of Excellence (1990); Certificates and Awards; Edmonton Sportsman's Fund; Governor General's Performing Arts Awards (1998); Grant McEwan Honourary Diploma (1985); Honours & Awards (General); Law Society of Alberta Distinguished Service Award (1999); Nomination for Chancellor of the University of Alberta (2000), Order of Canada (1975); Order of Canada (1986); Shoctor Alley (1998); State of Israel President's medal (1977); University of Alberta Honourary Degree (1981); Women of Valour Luncheon for Eva Gorasht. 7. Audiovisual (ca. 1940-1999). The series consists of audiocassettes and videocassettes featuring Joe Shoctor, including an oral history, documentary and silent film.
