John William Hope fonds

The fonds consists of thirteen letters from John William Hope to his wife, “Louie,” 10 April – 2 August 1903. The letters detail his journey from Britain to Barr Colony, and his struggle to find work in Western Canada. The fonds also includes British Colony and Dominion Lands Branch receipts for homestead land, 30 January and 2 July 1903.

The fonds consists of a research paper covering the period 1781-1990, edited by the Albers family, on the history of the Svenskbybo-people. It also includes a detailed genealogy of the Albers family and it holds a few family members' memoirs on World War II and farming life in Alberta. These memoirs were transcribed from audiotaped interviews not preserved by the family.

Edmund Kelly, family and local histories sent to Kelly by the authors, correspondence created as part of Kelly's work with the Historical Society of Alberta, and two newspaper clippings about Monseigneur Grouard and anniversary celebrations in St. Albert, Alberta.
