Historique
Hubert Alan Hollingworth was born in February 8, 1912 in Lloydminster, Alberta to Harry L. and Minnie Hollingworth. The Hollingworth Family came to Canada in 1903 and settled at the Barr Colony. The Hollingworth Family moved to Edmonton, Alberta, when Harry began working for the Atlas Lumber Company. In 1924, Hubert began a photographic apprenticeship with Bell Studios in Edmonton. In 1936, Hubert married Violet Faulkner, and they had a daughter, Lucille. From 1939 to 1945, Hubert worked as an aerial photographer for the United States Army during the WWII. After the war, Hubert returned to Edmonton and he worked as a photographer for McDermid Studios, the Edmonton Journal, and the Edmonton Bulletin. During this period, Hubert also helped found the Edmonton Camera Club and operated his own photographic studio. From 1954 to 1976, Hubert worked for the federal Department of Supply and Services. In 1976, Hubert retired and began volunteering at the City of Edmonton Archives. While volunteering for the City of Edmonton Archives, Hubert copied and cataloged many of his own photographs. Hubert passed away in 1988.
