History
Arvon came to Jasper with his parents Marion and Jack, his sister Shirley and brother Ron in 1943. They moved from Melville, SK as Jack had transferred with the CNR. Arvon completed his high school education and then in 1950 followed in his father's footsteps and hired on with the CNR as a locomotive fireman. Arvon and Mary Carpenter met in Blue River in 1953 where Mary was employed as a waitress in the "Beanery". Mary was born on the Queen Charlotte Islands but later moved to Vanderhoof with her family where she grew up and received her education. They were married in 1954. Their children David in 1956, John in 1957, Susan in 1959 (deceased), Gary in 1960 and Patricia in 1962 were all born in Jasper, AB. Arvon was a member of the Jasper Camera Club, and the Jasper Yellowhead Historical Society.
