Biographical history
The official organization of the Heimtal Moravian Church took place on July 26, 1896. Heimtal's organization was the result of the initiative of a settler in the Rabbit Hill area south of Edmonton. Ludwig Klapstein had been associated with the Moravian Church back in Poland where he was a teacher and spiritual meeting leader. As there were several German speaking families in the area who wanted to worship in their native tongue, Klapstein invited the Reverend C. Hoyler to hold services in his home in the early part of 1896. As attendance grew, the church was officially organized. Services continued to be held at the Klapstein home and later in an area school until a church building was erected in 1900.
