Administrative history

The Health Sciences Development Committee was responsible for overseeing the establishment of a medical school at the University of Calgary. Terms of reference approved February 13, 1968 were: a) Responsible for review and recommendation to the Capital Development Committee of all matters affecting the physical planning, construction and capital budget of health science buildings; b) Responsible for review and recommendation to Board of all procedures, liaison problems and other matters concerning the development of the Faculty of Medicine and other Health Sciences; and c) Responsible for review and recommendation to Business and Finance Committee of operating budget of Faculty of Medicine during the development of the Health Sciences complex. The Health Sciences Development Committee was also known as the Health Sciences Committee. The committee was dissolved March 10, 1970, and the Faculty of Medicine and the School of Nursing accepted their first students that fall.
