Biographical history
Established in 1920 and incorporated in 1935, the Grosmont Rural Mutual Telephone Company was established to provide telephone service to residents in the Grosmont District, northwest of Athabasca, including toll lines to Athabasca. The company was reorganized in 1959 and embarked upon an expansion program. In 1960 the Baptiste Lake circuit was opened. The Company disbanded in December, 1972 when Alberta Government Telephones introduced buried cable service.

The fonds consists of administrative materials created by the Grosmont Rural Mutual Telephone Company between 1937-1973. The fonds consists of minutes, financial statements, and correspondence.
