Leah Furman was born to Morris (Moe) and Dorita (Ricky) Furman. She lived in Edmonton, Alberta with her husband Howard, who was a lawyer, and her children Carla, Mitchell, Elliot, Shana, and Nathan. Her grandparents, Meyer and Bunia Furman, immigrated to Edmonton, Alberta from Pinsk, Poland and opened Furman's Tasty Bread on 97th Street in Edmonton.

Fonds consists of a photograph and negative depicting Meyer Furman and Leyzer Zipperstein (later Superstein) on a ship leaving for Canada from Pinsk, Poland dating from 1925, as well as a videocassette about the family from [ca. 1990].
