Biographical history

Edward Polanski was born in Redwater, AB, the son of Joseph Polanski and Angeline (Ardelli). He received his education in Thorhild, AB. and then attended the Radio College of Canada in Toronto from 1952-53. He operated a radio-television-appliance sales and service store in Thorhild from 1953-1962. He constructed one of Alberta's first cable television systems in the Town of Athabasca in 1960, Superior Communications Systems Ltd., which he operated for 10 years. He initiated Athabasca Clayworks, 1964-1969, which produced ceramics from local clay. He was the mayor of Athabasca in 1967. In 1970 Ed was granted a license for a company that he named QCTV which installed cablevision systems in 25 Alberta towns and cities. In 1973 he sold the Athabasca system and moved to St.Albert. Ed married Phyllis Tomnuk, also from Thorhild, and they have 5 children: Carmen, Kelly and Michelle, Grace, and James.

The fonds consists of a cover letter and a historical inventory of film footage shot in 1986 covering the major events of Athabasca's 75th Anniversary celebrations. It includes a description of the contents of each tape that was shot.
