Biographical history
Originally known as the Strathcona Moravian Church, this congregation was organized June 12, 1905 on Edmonton's south side. The first pastor was Reverend Gottfried Henkelman, and services were held in a small chapel located in a converted pump factory. In 1912, the congregation changed its name to the Edmonton Moravian Church. As the congregation grew, it relocated first to a wooden structure and then to the building which it currently occupies. Norwood Moravian Church was officially opened on December 1, 1907 on Edmonton's north side. The first pastor was Reverend Gottfried Henkelman. The congregation did not thrive and was dissolved in 1922. Its members were encouraged to join the Edmonton Moravian Church.
