Biographical history

Author, [19--]- . Darlene J. Comfort moved to Fort McMurray, Alberta in 1968. In addition to several articles, she has published three books on the history of <i>Fort McMurray: Meeting Place of Many Waters: A History of Fort McMurray (1973-1974)</i>, <i>Pass the McMurray Salt Please!</i> (1975) and <i>The Abasand Fiasco: The Rise and Fall of a Brave Pioneer Oil Sands Extraction Plant</i> (1980). This collection was gathered as research for her publications.

Fonds consists of these series: I Clippings (1972-1975). II Correspondence (1972-1983). III Interviews (1972-1980). Fort McMurray residents (21 sound tape cassettes). IV Photocopies (1888-1978). Documents pertinent to the history of the area, collected from archives and libraries. V Photographs (1890-1980). Collected from residents of Fort McMurray and district (248 images). The major part of the material was collected, not created, by Ms. Comfort and relates to her books on the history of Fort McMurray, Alberta.
