Biographical history
The Alberta Branch of the Canadian Ladies' Golf Union was formed in 1935. The national body with which it is affiliated was established in 1913. In 1966 the name was changed to the Canadian Ladies' Golf Association, Alberta Branch, and in 1973 it was incorporated as a society. Its objectives are to promote the game of golf, obtain provincial funds for this purpose, maintain and regulate championships and competitions, and host inter-provincial team trials on behalf of the national body. Its operations are mainly in Calgary and Edmonton. On January 1, 2000 the branch merged with the Alberta Golf Association to form Alberta Golf.
