Biographical history

The Brooks Bulletin newspaper was established in 1910 in Brooks, Alberta by Alvin Goss. Subsequent publishers included Leonard D. Nesbitt, 1912-1920, 1935-1969, J. Howard Nesbitt, 1920-1929, Robert B. Williamson, 1929-1935, and James L. Nesbitt. Editors have included Clive B. Nesbitt, 1935-1954, James L. Nesbitt Sr., 1955-1981 and James L. Newbitt Jr., after 1981.

Custodial history

Records are owned by the Glenbow but are made available by the Glenbow Western Research Centre, University of Calgary.

Scope and content

The fonds consists of files relating to articles published in the newspaper: John Ware's cabin (1955-1960), articles by John R. Gordon (1970), articles by C.J. Christianson (1960s), and an article on Midnapore Marathon by Vern Myers (1946). Includes a photograph of Governor-General's train in Calgary (1889) by Pollard.
