Biographical history

The Bow River Methodist Circuit appears in the 1900 Methodist Year Book as a circuit under the Calgary District of The Methodist Church. The circuit appears to have also included the West Brook Mission, possibly as a preaching point in the circuit. Bow River Circuit does not appear in the 1913 Methodist Year Book, although there are entries for Westbrook [sic] and Bottrel. Further information is unavailable.

Custodial history

A note written into the register in 1946 by the Reverend Aldridge indicates that the register was held by Reverend Mr. H.T. Jarrett who was specially ordained and stationed for some years on the former Bottrel Methodist charge. Mr. Jarrett also taught public school at Westbrook [sic]. Reverend Aldridge passed the register to his successor at the Langdon Pastoral Charge. The register was subsequently deposited in the Conference Archives sometime prior to 1975 when the Archives was situated at St. Stephen's College. In 1975, the Conference entered into a permanent loan agreement with the Provincial Archives of Alberta (PAA) for the physical custody and control of the holdings of the Conference Archives and the records were relocated to the PAA in that same year. The Conference did not deposit the church registers at the PAA until 1983 under Accession Number PR 1983.285.
