Biographical history

The Blackfalds Board of Trade was inaugurated in April 1903 in the Village of Blackfalds. It petitioned the federal and provincial governments concerning postal service, road building and other issues. It supported the short-lived newspaper the Blackfalds Mercury published by Percy Gregson (1903-1904). The Blackfalds Board of Trade appears not to have met in the period 1906-1907. It started up again briefly in 1908-1909; and had dissolved by 1910;Presidents: A. J. Shular (1903, 1905), J. E. Grant (1904), R. A. Shular (1908), L. A. Hill (1909). Secretary-Treasurers: Percy Gregson (1903-1905), and James McNicol (1905-1909)

Custodial history

Records of the Blackfalds Board of Trade were maintained by the organization's secretary-treasurers. James McNicol maintained the records in his notary office until his retirement in 1917, when he took the records with him. His daughter, Jean Landry, inherited the records, and passed them on to her husband, Ovide Landry
