Biographical history
Belmont School District no. 23 was established on May 9, 1885. An early teacher at the school was James Bond Steele of Beaver Lake AB, brother of Samuel Benfield Steele.
Custodial history
Elsie (Steele) Duncan was the daughter of James Bond Steele, school teacher at Belmont School District no. 23 at the time the newspapers were created. It is not certain how they were acquired by the City of Edmonton Archives.
Scope and content
This fonds consists of hand written copies of the school newspaper, The Star, vol. 1, nos. 1 and 2 and vol. 2, no. 1.
