Scope and content

Collection consists of photographs of campus facilities and equipment, displays and exhibitions, art objects, and students, staff, faculty, and guests in classes, rehearsals, performances, receptions, and conferences, taken by contract photographers and Centre staff. The photographs are arranged chronologically within subject areas: Applied Arts (1951-1969), Banff ([1940-1960]), Campus and Activities ([193-]-1983), Ceramics ([194- ]-1980), Dance (1947-1979), Drama (1945-1984), French Department (1945-1977), Literary Arts (1946-1978), Music (1947-1986), Music Theatre (1964-1982), Opera (1952- 1982), Portraits ([193-]-1982), Skating (1962-1972), Theatre Craft (1951-1985), Visual Arts ([193-]-1979), and Weaving ([194-]-1979).

Includes slides, negatives, contact sheets, and prints in various sizes.

Immediate source of acquisition

Original negatives from most of the contract photographers were donated to the Archives by the Whyte Museum of the Canadian Rockies.
