Biographical history

Extension services began with an annual music touring program in 1979 and were formalized into a Department after the establishment, in 1982, of Siding 29, a Music Theatre touring group, and the Artists and Teachers in the School pilot project (1982- 1985). The Department subsequently gained responsibility for alumni relations (1984), participant professional development (1985), the Elderhostel program (1986), and the Writing and Publishing Program (1986). The Department also offered community art, music, and theatre classes and recreational activities before dissolving in 1988. Managers of Extension include Kenneth Murphy (1979-1981) and Jon Bjorgum (1984-1988).
