Biographical history

Antonio Rebaudengo, 1892-1982, was born in Piozzo, Cuneo, Italy. He married Angelina Ceresero, 1900-2000, in 1920. Angelina was born in Coassolo, Italy. In the spring of 1922, Antonio, Angelina and their infant son Mario 1921-2000, arrived in Calgary, Alberta. They settled in Bridgeland/Riverside and Antonio, who was a machinist, was hired by the Canadian Pacific Railway (CPR), Ogden shops. In the mid-1930s, Antonio was made an agent of the Italian Consular Office. He and Angelina assisted thousands of Italian immigrants who settled in Calgary. During Second World War, Antonio, who fell under the Canadian government's designation of "enemy alien", was arrested and spent the next three years in internment camps. After his release in 1943, he returned to his job with the CPR and, along with his wife, continued to assist Italian immigrants in Calgary.
