Biographical history
The Alberta Federation of Rock Clubs was founded on May 11, 1963 in Red Deer, Alberta. As of 2003, it was composed of ten clubs throughout the Province. The Alberta Federation of Rock Club's mission is to assist member clubs by providing information and expertise, and to promote the study of Earth Sciences. The members clubs are: Barrhead Gem Seekers; Calgary Faceter's Guild; Calgary Rock and Lapidary Club; Edmonton Tumbleweed Lapidary Club; Lacombe Lapidary Club; Leduc Lapidary Club; Lloydminster Rock & Gem Club; Medicine Hat Rock & Lapidary Club; Red Deer Rock & Gem Club; and the Southern Alberta Rockhound Association. The Alberta Federation of Rock Clubs is a member of the Gem and Mineral Association of Canada and meets quarterly.

The fonds consists of executive minutes, correspondence, bylaws, and a club history created by the Alberta Federation of Rock Clubs between 1963 and 2002. The executive minutes cover the period between 1963-1972 and 2002.
