Ashbough, Roderick Leander, d. 1910

Roderick Leander Ashbough was a lawyer in Winnipeg, Manitoba before he moved to Dawson City ca. 1899. In Dawson he became a member of the bar on January 19, 1900, and set up a law practice, dealing mainly with the sale and rights of mineral claims. On June 28, 1909 Ashbough was elected as a Conservative member representing the Bonanza District to the first wholly elected Yukon Council. He was dean of the Dawson Bar Association in 1910. Ashbough died at his house on Harper St., Dawson on December 26, 1910. His funeral was held at St. Andrew's Presbyterian Church.

Nora Jean Isabel Camp was born in Calgary in 1916. She was also known as Mickey, and as Camp. She graduated from Crescent Heights High School in Calgary and from Calgary Normal School. She taught for five years in various districts of Alberta before resigning and moving to Dawson, Yukon in 1941. In Dawson, she worked as a waitress at the Bluebird Restaurant and wrote the social column for the Dawson newspaper. She taught school in Carcross from 1942 to 1944 and then in Whitehorse from 1945 to 1947. In 1947, she moved to Powell River, British Columbia, and was living there in 1996. In 1948, she married Lawrence "Scotty" de Wynter. They had five children.

Kluane First Nation

The traditional territory of the Kluane First Nation includes the Kluane Lake area and the surrounding region, including the northern end of Kluane National Park. The First Nation administration is based in Burwash Landing, Yukon. It has undertaken several oral history projects to preserve the stories, songs and experiences of their people. The First Nation conducted interviews with elders from 1977 to 1993, and collected stories, songs and interviews from a variety of sources. It also documented some events in the community.

Ladd, George Burrell, 1871-1954

George Ladd was born in Detroit in 1871. He came to the Klondike in 1898, settling in Dawson and Thistle Creek. He moved to Nome in 1900. His whereabouts from 1900 to 1903 are unknown, but in 1903 he arrived in the Okanagan Valley. He moved to Omak around 1912 and died there in 1954. George's father had a photographic studio and George became an expert negative re-toucher. He came to the Klondike to prospect and photograph, and in Nome he also worked as a sign painter. In the Okanagan he homesteaded and in Omak he set up Ladd's Studios. In 1920 he began orcharding.

Pierson, Betty

Mrs. Betty Pierson lived in Dawson City, Yukon for one year during her teens, possibly in 1914, with her aunt, Mrs. Kirk. Betty Pierson and a friend played the piano during movies at the Opera House and for the miners in the Arcade Cafe.
