The Alberta on Record database contains over 13,000 descriptions of archival records held in Alberta’s archives, including over 50,000 digitized photographs and textual records with contact information for each institution. The site also hosts records from the Yukon archives. The database can be used to research collections in Alberta’s and Yukon’s archival holdings, whether for academic study, family history, or simply to explore local history. For reproduction information or access to holdings, please contact the individual archival institution.
Alberta on Record is managed by the Archives Society of Alberta, with technical support and server hosting by Artefactual Systems Inc. The Alberta on Record database is powered by AtoM, a web-based, open source archival software developed by Artefactual Systems. AtoM is based on the descriptive standards outlined by the International Council of Archives as well as the Canadian national standard (Rules for Archival Description).
For more information on accessing the database or technical support, please contact the Archives Society of Alberta’s Database Administrator.
