Administrative history

The 51st Battalion Association was formed circa (ca.) 1918 and was located in Edmonton, Alberta. The association was composed of members of the 51st Battalion, Canadian Expeditionary Force (CEF), which was formed circa (ca.) January 4, 1915 and served overseas during World War I. The association organized yearly reunions for the veterans. A.E. Goodwin was the secretary-treasurer during the years 1951-1970, and A.A. Allbright was president during 1965-1968.

Custodial history

Ole Nielson of Exhibit Production deposited these records in the Provincial Archives of Alberta on the behalf of Mrs. Madge Foster 1977. Mr. Nielson's relationship to Mrs. Foster, and Mrs. Foster's relationship to the 51st Battalion Association are unknown.

Scope and content

Fonds consists of list of alphabetical lists of soldiers in the 51st Battalion and reinforcing drafts, correspondence, newspaper clippings, and reunion tickets.
