Custodial history
Many of the audio cassettes in this collection were donated to the Banff Mountain Film Festival by John Amatt upon his return from Nepal in 1982. They were integrated into the collection by Mountain Culture at a later date.
Scope and content
Series contains recordings that fall within two general categories: unedited field audio from the expedition and more highly-produced press and promotional audio. Series includes interviews with expedition team members in Nepal and Canada, environmental field recordings within Nepal, Everest Base Camp radio transmissions, the radio serial "Everest: The Ultimate Challenge, 1992-1982", additional programs on Everest’s history produced by Air Canada and the CBC, and the audio and musical components for CanEverEx’s pre and post-expedition slideshows.
